Hire-a-Local
Role: Project Manager
Scope: 4 weeks
Tools: Figma, Google Drive, DaVinci Resolve, Sketchbook, Pencil
Context: This is a design challenge to connect a traveler (User A) with a service provider (User B) using a mid-fidelity prototype for a mobile application.
Ideation Presentation
Our group aimed to ease the process for travelers looking to visit places they have never been before.
Our solution was to connect users to locals living in their desired destinations that could help them create an itinerary.
The goal is to help maximize user experience both on the app and at their destination.

Meet Ruth
a young working professional who wants to visit Turkey before I start my new job.
Feelings: Nervous, excited, motivated
Wants: To visit the lesser known places in Turkey rather than tourist spots
Needs: An easy way to explore Turkey without feeling too much like an outsider
The Solution: Hire-A-Local
After creative a creative matrix, prioritization matrix, and user journey, we made a prototype.
Case Study
On the right is my 4 minute mini-case study on the project.
Main Lessons Learned
-
Check your biases
It is essential to be aware of and examine our biases when approaching a design project. By acknowledging and addressing our biases, we can create more inclusive and user-centered design.
-
Get eyes on your project
It is important to have your prototype seen by a diverse pool of people. The more eyes that land on your project the better to get different perspectives.
-
Know your constraints
Many ideas are great but it was difficult to shelf some ideas. It is important to get the main components done before adding extra features to complete the project.
